Guided Hands® is an international award-winning assistive device that enables anyone with limited hand mobility to write, paint, draw and access technology using larger arm and shoulder movements instead of fine finger control. By shifting control away from the fingers and into stronger muscle groups, it allows individuals with limited hand mobility to participate more independently in creative and therapeutic activities.
Guided Hands® can support people who live with cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, muscular dystrophy, stroke-related weakness, or other upper extremity conditions.
Guided Hands® is a Canadian product from Imaginable Solutions.
Designed for Everyday Use
Guided Hands® is built for real life. It can be used in therapy clinics, classrooms, and at home without a complicated setup. It does not require batteries, screens, or electronics, making it easy to introduce into daily routines. Adaptations are also available for added flexibility and customisation based on individual needs:
An angled board for easier viewing
Wrist weights to help steady movement
Straps for added forearm support
Anti-slip materials to keep surfaces secure
These features can make the device more comfortable and easier to control for people with different movement patterns or muscle tone.
How it Works
Guided Hands® uses a mechanical sliding system to guide the hand and arm, translating gross motor movements from the shoulder into controlled hand movements without relying on fine motor skills.
Guided Hands® can be used across all age group, in Schools, Clinics and home in everyday life.
There are a range of support materials - guides, resource materials, case studies, advice - on the Imaginable website
Guided Hands® can also be used with a touch screen tablet and is an Apple-approved, third party assistive technology for people with limited hand mobility.
